SafeSip and Ufaulu Project Empower Morogoro Students with Clean Water and WASH Education
600 SafeSip Straws Distributed to Support Student Health and Environmental Sustainability
Morogoro, Tanzania – May 4, 2025 – SafeSip Limited, in partnership with the Ufaulu Project, successfully conducted a WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) awareness session at Morogoro Secondary School, aimed at promoting safe drinking water practices and climate resilience among students. As part of the initiative, 600 SafeSip Straws were distributed, directly impacting hundreds of students and their families.
The event featured educational activities on clean water, hygiene, and climate change, including live demonstrations of the SafeSip Straw’s 3-stage filtration system. Designed to remove 99.99% of bacteria, parasites, and microplastics, each straw provides up to 1,500 liters of safe drinking water—offering an eco-friendly alternative to bottled water while significantly reducing plastic waste.
Founder Faith Kuya emphasized the importance of empowering youth through access to clean water:
“This initiative is not just about filtration—it’s about giving students like those in Morogoro the tools to stay healthy, attend school, and dream bigger. Safe water should never be a barrier to education.”
The collaboration also included a tree-planting ceremony in partnership with My Birthday Tree, reinforcing environmental education and climate action. In a unique cultural twist, students proudly showcased their Chinese language skills, delivering messages in Mandarin about how SafeSip Straws can help protect their communities from waterborne diseases.
SafeSip aims to prevent the use of over 98 million plastic bottles by 2028, and this initiative marks a key milestone in reaching rural communities with sustainable water solutions.
