Faith Kuya Receives Commonwealth Youth Award Trophy as Africa Regional Finalist for Excellence in Development Work

June 22, 2025 — SafeSip proudly celebrates its Founder and CEO, Faith Sebastian Kuya, who has been officially recognized as the Africa Regional Finalist for the 2025 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work. Faith was recently presented with the prestigious award trophy in honor of her groundbreaking work advancing sustainable access to clean water across African communities.

Presented by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Youth Awards shine a global spotlight on exceptional young leaders aged 15 to 29 who are positively transforming their communities through innovative solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Receiving this award is not just a personal milestone — it’s a powerful reminder that young people across Africa are leading real, meaningful change,” said Faith Kuya. “This trophy belongs to every girl, every village, and every community that dared to believe in the power of clean water and local innovation.”

Through her social enterprise SafeSip, Faith has worked to eliminate barriers to safe drinking water by designing scalable, affordable purification tools, directly contributing to SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Her leadership continues to drive impact across health, gender equity, climate resilience, and economic empowerment.

The Commonwealth Youth Award trophy serves as a physical symbol of global recognition and encouragement for Faith’s ongoing mission to empower communities through purpose-driven innovation.
